FAQs

Why tradeswomen?
Our experience shows us that our clients feel more comfortable and confident opening their home to, and if necessary leaving their keys with, a woman.

Are your team fully qualified?
Each member of our team is fully qualified in her own professional area. We check each team members qualifications and references.

What insurance do you have?
Each home-jane team member is covered by their own Public Liability insurance, copies of which are held at our offices. The home-jane business also carries its own insurance.

How much does it cost?
Our pricing is completely transparent and we DO NOT charge a call out fee. We charge our jobs out on an hourly rate a daily rate and larger jobs will be estimated on in advance. Our estimates are free of charge and we will outline any costs with you before starting work. We are sure you will find us competitive, just call the team to find out more.

What are your payment terms?
Once you have accepted our estimate we ask for a standard 40% deposit to help pay for the up-front cost of materials. We will then invoice you for the final balance once work has been completed.

What about materials?
Our handywomen keep a range of supplies with them that they may need for smaller jobs. For larger jobs all basic materials that may be required are identified during the estimate and included in the price. Additional materials can be supplied but they may incur a mark-up on the retail price to compensate for costs and time incurred during collection/delivery.

What about tools?
Our handywomen are equipped with the tools needed for a wide range of jobs. For larger/more complex projects we will advise if any specialist equipment is required.

Where do you work?
Home Jane currently covers London and the Home Counties.

How do I become a member of the team?
If you’re a fully qualified tradesperson, then we’d love to hear from you. We’d suggest you send us an email to info@home-jane.co.uk outlining your experience and why you’d like to join us. If we receive your documentation and references, we’d then like to meet with you, and if we all get on well and your documentation and references match up, we’ll then outline our rates, how we work, our promises to our clients and what we expect from our team members. If that all sounds good, then we’re good to go!
